Sarah Council dance collaboration

I am delighted to be once again working with choreographer Sarah Council on a new work for dance titled A History of Dirt. A History of Dirt is an approximately thirty-minute work for recorded audio (electroacoustic) and movement. Sarah is the choreographer and I am composing and producing music for the introduction, duet (partial), and transition sections. There will be a pre-premiere of a subset of the sections of the work at the LadyFest dance festival in Charlotte, NC on January 12, 2019. [Help support Ladyfest!] The entire work will be premiered in Greensboro, NC later in January. Look for posts with details as the performances draw near.

A History of Dirt is more abstract than narrative. However, Sarah’s choreography develops small movements into more complex sequences and is similar to early 20th century ‘continuous development’ in music. I am fortunate to have the opportunity to work with artists like Sarah. Stay tuned for updates and possibly audio and video samples.
