I have posted the score of my single movement orchestral work Refractions to my Scores page. Refractions was composed in early 1994 when I was a masters student at the University of Florida. Refractions was written as an exploration of the space between aleatoric counterpoint (Lutoslawski) and process oriented development (Reich/Glass), and juxtaposed quartile harmonies. It was the last hand written score I produced. I did have access to music notation software at the time, but due to the mix of aleatoric and standard notation it made more sense to draft the score by hand.
There is an inherent beauty to hand written scores. While computer engraved scores are clear and legible, hand written scores have a personality and unique look that I have not been able to reproduce with notation software. The advantages of notation software are numerous (engraved look, parts easily generated, MIDI playback, etc.) but I sometimes miss the uniqueness of hand written scores.
