questionable standards update

My next scheduled release on Runaway Table Productions, “Questionable Standards,” is nearing completion. It will be my first EP of my jazz-fusion compositions. It has taken much longer to bring this project to fruition than anticipated. I decided to play all bass parts on the recording, which meant getting my playing back up to an acceptable standard after many years of focusing on composition and studio-produced electronic music at the expense of my bass chops. I also chose to take on electric fretless bass for select tracks. Add to all this the logistics of finalizing the charts, making arrangements to record instrumental contributions from multiple guest players, navigating performances of my existing music at three major national and international music festivals, and taking on a new commissioned work for the South Carolina Music Teachers’ Association. It has been a busy but rewarding year. I am very much looking forward to finishing up Questionable Standards and releasing the EP. Expect five, maybe six tracks: For What It’s Worth, MilesTONES, On the Mend, Twists and Turns, And On That Note…” and (maybe) One Off… (slightly).
