My new string quartet, Getting Down to Business, was premiered by the Beo String Quartet on Saturday, June 23. The performance took place at Snug Harbor in Charlotte, NC. Getting Down to Business was written for the Beo String Quartet and the concert was part of their residency at the Charlotte New Music Festival. The piece is in two movements, I. Nothing Left to Lose, and II. Diminishing Returns. The Beo String Quartet was a pleasure to work with. They pay attention to details and take time to understand the music in a way that informs their performance. I am truly fortunate to have the opportunity to work with such talented and dedicated musicians. The concert also featured new music by Charlotte New Music Festival participants and guest composers.
