The latest addition to Shadow Dog Studio is a Fender Squire fretless Jazz Bass. I have never owned a fretless or played one very often, but several of the tracks on my upcoming album “Questionable Standards” were crying out for the expressive nuance only possible with a fretless bass. I am very much enjoying getting to know the instrument and the potential sound world available that is idiomatic to fretless bass. At this time I plan to use it for melody, bass lines, and solos for “Twists and Turns” and “MilesTONES”. Look for the release of “Questionable Standards” with posts as the recording and production process moves along.
