It features pianist Tomoko Deguchi performing the premiere at the South Carolina Music Teachers Association state conference at Anderson University, in Anderson, South Carolina on November 4, 2022. dum spiro, spero was commissioned by SCMTA and is based on the South Carolina state motto “dum spiro, spero” which translates to “While I breathe, I hope”.
