My latest composition for piano, dum spiro, spero, received its premiere performance on November 4, 2022 at Anderson University in Anderson, South Carolina, USA. It was interrupted and performed brilliantly by pianist Tomoko Deguchi as part of the annual state conference of the South Carolina Music Teachers Association (SCMTA). dum spiro, spero was commissioned by SCMTA for premiere at their 2022 state conference. It was very well received. Video and audio recordings of the premiere will be available on my web site as soon as they are edited and processed. dum spiro, spero is the official state motto of South Carolina. It translates as “While I breath, I hope.” The English translation is featured on select South Carolina licenses plates.
