two new works set for premiere

Two of my latest new compositions are set for premiere in spring 2017.

The first, Successions, for chamber ensemble, will be premiered by the Bechtler Ensemble  at the Getty’s Center in Old Town Rock Hill, SC USA on Sunday, May 21, 2017. There will be a second performance later the same day at the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art in Charlotte, NC, USA. A third performance is scheduled for Monday, May 22, 2017 at Queens University also in Charlotte. Successions is based on Jean Tinguely’s kinetic sculpture Santana, which resides at the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art in Charlotte, NC. I am honored to have the opportunity to write for the Bechtler Ensemble again and to have been trusted to interrupt into music Tinguely’s Santana.

In June 2017 during the Charlotte New Music Festival the Beo String Quartet will premiere my latest work for string quartet titled Nothing Left to Lose. The title, Nothing Left to Lose, refers to the compositional approach featured in the piece. Masses of sound spontaneously erupt and are gradually thinned to singular events via subtractive processes. I am thrilled to have an opportunity to write for one of the finest professional string quartets working today.

I hope some of my Charlotte region friends can join us for these premieres.
