I attended a rehearsal of /// Elements, and the Blue Ridge Chamber Players are fantastic! They sound great and the piece is in great shape. It is such a joy to be able to work with players who transcend the technical demands of the music so that you can spend rehearsal time tweaking details and discussing concepts. The Blue Ridge Chamber Players rock!
The video for /// Elements is near completion. It features the visual art that inspired each segment of the piece, all from the North Carolina Museum of Art permanent collection. The works are presented unaltered, save a few transitions. Motion is present, just as we experience visual art in time, our eyes moving from one aspect of the work to another, I have attempted to include the time-based element of motion in hopes of connecting the temporal experience of music to the visual art itself.
The premiere will take place in Raleigh, NC at the North Carolina Museum of Art on Sunday, February 3, 2013 at 4:00 p.m. Contact me for details.
